What are Small Groups:
Small groups are groups of 3 or more people that meet weekly to give you the opportunity to connect, make friends, become part of The Refuge family while learning and growing spiritually in the process. In a Small Group you will be able to build relationships by connecting with people in a similar stage of life or with similar interests. Together, we will build community, foster spiritual growth, and have fun!
What is the purpose of Small Groups?
Small groups have one purpose: to connect people together. We are not designed to do this life alone and here at the Refuge, we believe that we are better together. We also know that meaningful relationships aren't always easy to find. And thats why small groups exist, to make these life-changing relationships easily accessible to you.
How does it work?
Small Groups run on a semester calendar and most meet weekly. Our semesters are broken into trimesters: —winter/spring, summer and fall. Semesters run for 10-12 weeks, depending on the group. Small Groups are meant to bring meaning and community into the flow of your life, so even if you can’t attend every meeting, there is still great value in joining a group.
Who can attend Small Groups at The Refuge?
Anyone is welcome and encouraged to join a Small Group!
What if I don’t like the first group I try?
The truth is, not everyone will find the best fit with the first group they try. This is why we encourage you to communicate with the leaders, and even try out a couple different groups before choosing the best one for you. The simple strategy to finding success in Small Groups is to not give up. We believe there is a group that is right for everyone—including you!
Are children welcome to join Small Group Meetings?
This depends on the small group and is shown on the church website.
Can anyone join my small group?
Of course! We encourage you to invite friends, co-workers, and anyone else you think may benefit from attending a small group.
Who can lead a Small Group?
All members are invited to lead a Small Group. After completing our program called My Refuge those who are interested in leading a group are invited to attend a special Small Group training session. All Small Group leaders have access to a Small Group Coach to guide them through the process.
Do I need to be "Bible Expert" to become a leader?
No! The most important thing to be considered for a leader is that you have a desire to serve the members of your group and to grow in your own personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
